A law which obeys our hearts

Australia’s first and best civil union scheme has sustained immense collateral damage in the gay marriage debate, all of it undeserved.

No, I’m not talking about the ACT’s thwarted attempt at civil partnerships. I’m referring to Tasmania’s globally-groundbreaking relationship registry.

That registry is important because, for the first anywhere, it enshrines freedom of choice as the fundamental principle behind relationship law.
