Up-coming forums on the UN and LGBT human rights
A series of forums on the UN and LGBT human rights, featuring the Secretary-General of the International Lesbian and Gay Association, Rosanna Flamer-Caldera, is planned for the second half of February.
A resolution on sexual orientation and human rights is before the UN Commission on Human Rights.The resolution has the support of many countries but is vehemently opposed by the Vatican and many Islamic countries.
The Howard Government has so far supported the resolution but only after lobbying from LGBT Australians and their allies.

Health in Difference
Here's a notice about this month's LGBT health conference in Melbourne between January 20 & 22.
This month Melbourne will host the fifth Australian gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender health conference, known as Health in Difference 5. This series of bi-annual national conferences, which began in 1996, arose out of a desire among those working on health-related issues with the GLBTI communities to share information, advance research and policy in the field, and develop networks. The election results are in and the next few years don't look good for queer/LGBTI (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex) communities. Hobart human rights conference
Check out details of this important national human rights conference.
The United Nations Human Rights Education Committee was established in 1996 by the standing committee of Attorney General, as a response to the United Nations proclamation of a year and decade for Human Rights.2004 marks the end of the UN Decade on Human Rights and the Australian Government is required to report on the State of Human Rights in this country.
This conference is a real opportunity to have an input and allow your voice to be heard on this issue.

ACT HUMAN RIGHTS ACT 2004: AUSTRALIA’S FIRST BILL OF RIGHTS

This seminar will examine the legal and other implications of the new ACT Human Rights Act 2004. Speakers will examine the Act and its affect upon human rights, the legal profession and legal institutions.
